The excellent news regarding Arthur Okonkwo, the injured goalkeeper on loan, has been welcomed by Wrexham.
The goalkeeper, who has been a key member of the Red’s current winning streak that has seen them move up to second place in League Two and go to the FA Cup third round, was hurt during the team’s most recent 2-2 draw with Harrogate Town.
His facial injuries appeared to be minor at first, but it soon became clear that the 22-year-old, who is presently on loan from Premier League leaders Arsenal, will require jaw surgery.
After the diagnosis, he will be out for weeks instead of months due to the operation. Phil Parkinson’s side will be disappointed that his minor surgery will delay his return to action, but at least it won’t be as long as initially anticipated.
The Daily Mail quoted Red Dragons manager Parkinson as stating. “I don’t think it’s too serious, but the medical staff felt it was appropriate to take him off at halftime because he seemed a little confused.” Since I’m not a physiotherapist, I must trust their assessment.
The expert investigating the issue did state that Okonkwo would wear a protective mask or some other type of specific headgear to help while playing. This kind of defense is not unusual. For the time being, though, there isn’t a set timeline, and Mark Howard, a seasoned player, will be helping the Red Dragons for the foreseeable future. Parkinson will be hoping, from his perspective

Although Arthur Oknokwo’s return to action is anticipated, Wrexham will miss having him. It looks like a simple surgery, and the team owners will undoubtedly make sure the best care is provided. Additionally, expert assistance will be provided along the road to ensure the goalkeeper does not return too soon.
