At the Light Blues AGM, Philippe Clement assured Rangers supporters that the current Ibrox squad will have fewer injuries in a few months.

Due to their extended absences from the game, the Belgian manager has struggled to dependably use several key players, including Scott Wright, Kemar Roofe, and Nicolas Raskin, since his arrival in Glasgow.

Since assuming leadership at Ibrox, Clement has consistently insisted that the Rangers team has to increase their level of fitness. He has also named Tom Taylor head of performance and stated that less injuries will occur in a “few months.

According to Colin of the Heart and Hand Podcast, who was cited on Twitter on December 5, he stated: “We look at causes, the human body, training, and other things when evaluating injuries. A competent director of performance has been crucial. I watch athletes, particularly those who are injured, working hard. Tom Taylor is from a team that has a strong track record of developing players. You will see fewer injuries if we have a few months together.

Making strides

While it was never going to be that simple for the Belgian, most Rangers supporters would have liked to have seen Clement wave a magic wand to address the Light Blues’ injury problems, he does appear to be making headway in cutting down on the Gers’ absences.

Clement has heaped praise on the work ethic of his squad, including those missing out due to injury, and it feels like the entire team at Ibrox is working too hard to help Rangers win some silverware and improve on their challenging start to the campaign.

With Taylor as head of performance and Nils Koppen as new director of football, Rangers have the building blocks in place to develop a more reliable and well-equipped team under his leadership.

After spending little over a month in Scotland, Clement is finally at ease and ready to go. Ideally, that will entail helping some of those injured athletes return to full health and then taking care of them so they don’t get injured again. Too many times, athletes who aren’t fit enough are rushed back and end up getting worse injuries; Roofe and Lawrence are two examples of this.
