Ben Davies and a number of other Spurs periphery players have received plaudits from Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou for their training regimen amid a difficult period for the team.
Prior to Tottenham’s Premier League matchup with West Ham on Thursday, in which the team hopes to resume winning ways, the manager of Tottenham spoke with football.london.
Early in the season, Tottenham was riding high, but a terrible number of injuries and suspensions decimated the Spurs roster.
In their last four Premier League games, the North Londoners have suffered three losses and one draw—albeit at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City. Even though Spurs lacked an established senior center-back, they were still able to draw with Pep Guardiola’s team.
Davies performed admirably in the 3-3 draw in Manchester. Davies is a versatile defender who can play at both left and center back.
Giovani Lo Celso scored a goal for Spurs after the £10 million player won a crucial diving header and had a strong defensive game.
320 Tottenham games are under Davies’ resume; he has made nine this season, five of which have been starts.
Ben Davies, a Tottenham star, has been working out well.
Postecoglou was asked on Wednesday by football.london how happy he was with the Tottenham periphery players who have performed wonderfully. It’s been significant,” he commenced. “Because they’re forced to take advantage of an opening, and in situations like that, you sometimes depend heavily on their ability to intervene without unduly interfering with our efforts.
“As much as it was necessary, I was always encouraged to train every day by players like Bryan Gil, Gio, and even Ben Davies, who hasn’t played much. Both of them have been exercising well. Emerson has been exercising well.
Naturally, we’re asking them to play a little different role, which presents another challenge, but once more, it all comes down to their commitment to playing our game and their application, which has been essential to that.
“Aside from Wolves, as I always say, our performance level has been quite good considering all we’ve been through thus far.
TBR Perspective
Over the previous nine years, Davies’ talent, work ethic, and attitude have won over numerous Spurs managers, even though he may not be a regular starter for Tottenham.
He’s a terrific asset to Tottenham’s roster and locker room, and in the years to come, he’ll undoubtedly keep giving Spurs his best.
