The most recent Rangers injury news as Philippe Clement suffers two more serious knocks ahead of the Ibrox team’s home Scottish Premiership matchup against Dundee.
Entering the match, Gers had just defeated Hearts midweek, due to a goal from Abdallah Sima in the first half. They now have 15 points from 15 games, one more than their archrivals Celtic, who defeated Hibs on Wednesday.
Rangers can cut the lead over the Hoops to just five points before they play Kilmarnock on Sunday if they defeat Tony Docherty’s Dundee. But in the midst of ongoing injury problems that the Rangers are unable to overcome this season, Clement’s team will need to accomplish that. Before the Rangers take on the Dee, here are the most recent reports on injuries.
Injury report for Rangers ahead of Dundee match
A few weeks ago, the Ibrox treatment room seemed to be getting better, but now it seems like the catastrophic scenario is back to square one.
With the exception of the draws against Aberdeen and Aris Limassol, form hasn’t been too affected lately, although Clement will be eager to see the end of Rangers’ injury problems this season. What is currently known regarding the squad situation is detailed below.
Danilo injury news
The Brazilian forward was forced to wear a mask after sustaining a serious facial injury against St Johnstone earlier in the season. But Danilo has already taken another hit as he throws off the protection.
At his pre-Dundee press conference today, Clement reaffirmed: “Danilo will also be out due to a knee issue that he sustained during a tackle during the Hearts game.” The possibility of surgery exists.
We can only hope that this isn’t as bad as it sounds, because this is the last thing any Rangers fan wants to hear.
Tom Lawrence injury latest
Due to injury troubles, the unfortunate offensive midfielder has missed much of the previous year and is just not able to get lucky.
This season, Lawrence made a comeback from a lengthy ACL injury, although he was limited to a few games before missing further time due to injury. He was out for the next six Premiership matches, but in early November, he returned to form when his team defeated Hearts in the Viaplay Cup semifinal.
Lawrence finally appeared to be over his issues; he had two assists for the Rangers this season; however, he sustained another leg injury against the Jambos in the middle of the week.
After being sent off early in that match, Clement announced on Friday that his midfield player would not return until after the Premiership Christmas break. Terrible.
Borna Barisic injury latest
Regarding Borna Barisic’s knock sustained shortly before Wednesday’s Hearts game, Clement remained silent.
The Belgian’s radio silence on Friday suggests the Croatian may be fully recovered from the muscular injury he sustained. But his inclusion against Dundee might still be in question.
Nico Raskin injury latest
Nico Raskin, a tough-tackling midfielder, was stretchered off against Hearts in November and is now sidelined for good. Additionally, Clement stated that there is no updated prognosis about Raskin’s absence and that the team is not happy with how his rehabilitation is progressing.
Ryan Jack and Scott Wright injury latest
At his pre-Dundee press conference, Clement said in passing that Rangers players Ryan Jack and Scott Wright won’t be available on Saturday.
The two are still not prepared to play again after missing the Hearts victory. Jack had his injury while serving in Scotland, and Wright is having trouble recovering from a muscular ailment.
