David Edgar reports that Nils Koppen is beginning to purge the Rangers roster amid rumors that John Park has quit his position at Ibrox.
Senior scout Park departed his position at Ibrox after new head of football recruitment Koppen took over, according to a report published in The Scottish Sun on Friday, December 8.
The former Celtic captain and the Rangers are said to have “reached an agreement” over his exit, and he is currently looking for a new chance.
Edgar launched the Heart & Hand Podcast, which is presently a recognized media partner of the Rangers.
Edgar thinks Koppen was responsible for Park’s departure as Ibrox experiences yet another backroom purge. Edgar stated on Friday, December 8, via the Heart & Hand Podcast’s Twitter account, “Koppen clearing the decks.
Much overdue
We’d love to know if Park, who is regarded as one of the top recruiters in the Scottish game, was responsible for the strategic additions of players like Cyriel Dessers, Jose Cifuentes, and Sam Lammers during the summer transfer window.
When Michael Beale made a total mess of things at Ibrox with a string of terrible signings in the summer, he should never have been allowed the leeway he did. Numerous individuals have proposed that Park ought to have assumed the position of director of football following Ross Wilson’s departure to Nottingham Forest.
Fortunately, he didn’t have any influence over Beale’s signings if he did.
In the end, Park has not fulfilled his obligations here.
According to what we’ve seen so far, Jack Butland was the sole quality addition we made in the summer, but any young player who had played Football Manager could have thought of a better option. Park’s departure is a good thing, and perhaps Koppen can bring in someone with whom he has worked in the past who might help Govan.
