Following his team’s 1-1 draw against Burnley at home, Roberto De Zerbi declared that Brighton is “not a top team yet” and that he is not a top coach.

Wilson Odobert’s goal from just outside the area’s edge against the play gave the away team the lead shortly before the half. Simon Adingra headed the ball past James Trafford after Pascal Gross crossed it to the back post, helping Brighton equalize following a flurry of squandered opportunities.

The Burnley goalkeeper would put on an incredible show, save numerous shots to deny Brighton the opportunity to win the game. In response after the game, De Zerbi commented, “I am really disappointed and frustrated.”

The players’ attitude was excellent. We may have been stronger while attacking and could have played better defense when we let up the goal in the first half if we had been playing with the proper enthusiasm and ball speed.

After a strong first half performance, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany expressed his pride in his players, but he also stated that his club is not yet ready to compete with opponents like Brighton. “I thought the first half was outstanding,” he remarked. The second half was when we lost; it got harder to retrieve the ball and more dependent on our defense. We are still not at a place where we can play opponents like Brighton on a same footing every week.

De Zerbi explained why his team hasn’t won by drawing comparisons between today’s Burnley performance and the 1-1 home draws against Sheffield United and Fulham. “The question is why we didn’t win these three games,” the man uttered.

Brighton’s coach isn’t quite at the top yet. Nobody believes in his players more than I do, and I think my team is really good. Though not yet the best team, we are a very excellent one.

Before today’s match, De Zerbi was worried about the health of a few of his players. He started Joao Pedro on the left instead of Kaoru Mitoma, stating that Mitoma was not fit to play for ninety minutes. Igor and Mitoma posed risks, and Buonanotte was unable to play for ninety minutes.”
