As “patience is wearing thin,” Leeds United supporters would be pleased to see Junior Firpo depart the team in January, according to Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport reporter stated in an interview with GiveMeSport on Saturday, December 9, that he thinks the 27-year-old is a “better player” than the Elland Road crowd has witnessed.

However, he thinks Leeds should permit the Dominican left-back to make a “emotional return” to the La Liga team if he wishes to depart, following the report on November 28 from Foot Mercato that the old team, Real Betis, wants to recruit him.

Though Jones acknowledged that his patience was getting thin, “I do think he is a better player than Leeds have seen so far.” “I believe that many Leeds supporters will likely be relieved to see him go.

“I believe Leeds should be striving to close this deal, from their perspective. It probably makes sense for everyone if Betis is genuinely interested in the player and he is seeking an emotional homecoming to a place that could help him regain his peak performance.

It seems as though Firpo would benefit from a new beginning, since both the team and he have found his stint at Leeds to be somewhat unsatisfactory.

The left-back has had multiple injuries since joining from Barcelona in 2021, which has kept him from playing regularly for the team.

The Dominican has missed the last few games due to an additional injury that he sustained after recently rejoining the team.

Perhaps a deal might work for everyone if he were to return to Betis, where he began his career, given the Whites do have some cover in that part of the pitch.

But since they signed him for £13 million two years ago, his worth has most likely decreased dramatically, thus a sizable loss would be expected.
