Steve Cooper would have lost his job if Nottingham Forest had lost to Wolves on Saturday, according to reports earlier this week. However, Forest managed to draw at Molineux, and owner Evangelos Marinakis is rumored to have been impressed by his players’ enthusiasm.

Following their valiant draw at Wolves on Saturday, Nottingham Forest has no immediate plans to fire Steve Cooper.

Cooper would not survive a fifth straight Premier League loss, according to a report earlier this week from Sky Sports News, and Forest’s owner Evangelos Marinakis is seriously contemplating switching managers.

But Marinakis has been somewhat appeased by Cooper’s performance and outcome at Molineux, and the Greek businessman has now abandoned his plans to fire Cooper in the near future.

According to reports, Marinakis was moved by the players’ fight and passion during the 1-1 tie, which suggests they still have faith in Cooper.

The team that was thrashed 5-0 at Craven Cottage on Wednesday saw seven changes made by the boss.

Forest supporters sang Cooper’s name all the way to Molineux. During his post-match press conference, Cooper denied he was bidding farewell to fans after waving to the away end at full time. Before the draw with Wolves, rumors circulated that the Forest management was beginning to believe that new ideas were required and that there was a disagreement over tactics between the players and the coaching staff.

It was also reported that Cooper’s supervisors at Forest were growing more and more irritated with his work.

Forest’s next match is this Friday, live on Sky Sports, at home against Tottenham.

Cooper gave the Forest supporters a salute and pressed his hand to his breast in an emotive gesture during the Molineux final whistle.

Speaking with reporters following the end of play, he stated: “When you consider the game and its circumstances, I’m proud of my squad and the way we performed. It’s a constructive takeaway. When you combine that with the noise, which hasn’t seeped into the training area because we won’t allow it, all you see is a group of players who like representing the team and want to succeed. You witnessed what we did when we stood up and were counted, instead of running away and pouting. It demonstrates how unified the club’s membership is.

Keeping everything in mind, it’s not a horrible workday.
