The wife of Wrexham footballer Anthony Forde has commended Ryan Reynolds for helping to put an end to her “nightmare” of a brain tumour after he emotionally intervened in the medical situation.
It was recently made public that the Hollywood celebrity and owner of Wrexham made a wonderful gesture by contributing to the cost of a second opinion on Laura Forde’s condition from a renowned neurosurgeon.
Full-back from Ireland Midway through the previous season, Laura was diagnosed with a brain cancer that was thought to be deadly, and Forde’s world completely crashed.
When Laura received the heartbreaking news that she had a brain tumor only a few weeks after giving birth to their first child, Reynolds extended a helping hand to the couple.
When Forde’s kid was just three days old, Laura, his wife, discovered that her left arm was giving her trouble. Her coordination was “off,” in her own words, as she stated on her Instagram page.
After an MRI revealed a “mass,” she was initially informed that it was incurable and that her prognosis was likely to be short.
After Reynolds got involved, the couple saw a renowned neurologist in New York for a second opinion. Laura had a biopsy, and the results showed that the tumor was a benign grade 1 Thalamic pilocytic astrocytoma, which is far less deadly than the previous diagnosis.
The tumor is inoperable due to its placement, but the couple considered this to be the “best case scenario.”
She now gave The Sunday Times an explanation of how her “living nightmare” took over her life just after giving birth. Laura explains, “The neurologist told us it’s inoperable and you have a timeline.” “At that point, we expressed our desire to remain anonymous.” I’m essentially being informed that I might not see my son turn a year old, and Paddy was only four weeks old. No word of a lie, while I was working those night feeds, I was organizing my funeral.” I was sobbing in private. It was a very depressing moment. A nightmare come true.
I had a pretty bad day. A woman’s hormones are wildly unstable in the first few months after having birth, so it doesn’t bother me in the least. It was simply an emotional roller coaster.
At first, I was shocked and incredulous. I felt like I should be thrilled about this because I was in such a vulnerable place, but I had just had the worst seven weeks possible with my newborn. Laura shared another photo on her Instagram story in September, this time expressing her relief that the tumor had not grown.
She did, however, disclose that after the procedure, a screw remained in her brain.
She posted on Instagram, saying, “I felt like something wasn’t right with my wound, so I wanted it checked.” I was certain that I sensed something. I was horrified to learn that a screw from the biopsy had been left behind. What the heck? How? I have to decide now whether to have it removed (more surgery) or leave it there.”
