  1. Chris Sutton has already delivered his verdict on one of Celtic’s summer signings after what he has seen so far this season.

The former Hoops hero was running the rule over the current Celtic squad and admits that Hyunjun Yang is one player he feels is not good enough for Celtic.

Sutton said [Daily Record], “It’s clear Yang is not up to it yet.

“He looked like someone who had won a raffle to get a game in the first half last weekend and while he may have talent he still looks a good bit away from having what it takes at this level.”

It wasn’t too long ago that Sutton was saying how impressed he was with the South Korean so it is a little bewildering to suggest now that Yang is all of a sudden not good enough.

Let’s not forget that Yang is just 22 and has moved halfway across the world and is likely still trying to settle into life in Glasgow.

And whilst I agree that his performances are really inconsistent, let’s not pretend Yang was bought with a view to throwing him into first-team action this early into his career.

Injuries to Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada have forced Brendan Rodgers to play Yang when it is more probable that he would have been used sparingly until he was up to speed with life at Celtic and in Scotland.

Whilst I agree that from the evidence shown that he’s not good enough to start, there is also evidence there to suggest that he could be a very good impact player from the bench.

And this is what I think he will be once Maeda and Abada are both fit. Yang will play second fiddle to both wingers as he learns his trade.

Then and only then can he be judged because as of right of this minute, any suggestion that he is not good enough to become a Celtic player is wide of the mark and grossly unfair.
