Unai Emery is ready to block multiple sales at Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

Villa have started the 2023-24 campaign in stellar form and sit third in the table – and have also qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League.

It is believed Emery wants to add to his squad in the new year rather than let anyone leave.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that club chiefs feel depth will be vitally important for Villa with the hectic scheduling in the second half of the season.

One such player who could be kept on at Villa Park is Leander Dendoncker, who came in from the cold to feature as a substitute in the win over Arsenal on Saturday (9 December).

The Belgium international is under contract with the Midlands giants until June 2027 and earns a reported £90,000-a-week wage.

Football Insider revealed last month (29 November) that Everton are keeping tabs on Aston Villa midfielder Dendoncker heading into the January transfer window ahead of a potential loan swoop.

He has made 10 appearances this season totalling just 143 minutes of action.

Other players who have featured sparingly for Emery’s side this season include Bertrand Traore, Calum Chambers and Robin Olsen.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (12 December) that Villa want to sign an attacking midfielder and striker in the January transfer window.

Emery’s side sit third in the Premier League after beating both Arsenal and Man City in recent games.

The Midlands giants are just two points from the summit ahead of their next clash against Brentford on Sunday (17 December).
