West Ham United are set to be without just one player for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Freiburg, according to Ben Dinnery.
The injury expert shared the data on his website and has listed the players who will not be available and are “ruled out”, for Thursday’s clash (14 December) at the London Stadium.
Hammers star Michail Antonio is set to miss the game against the German Bundesliga outfit with a knee injury but could be back for Sunday’s game against Wolves (17 December).
Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is currently out with a wrist injury and has missed West Ham United’s last two games but is an outside chance for a return against Freiburg at 25 per cent.
Redemption
West Ham United were abysmal against Fulham on Sunday in a whopping 5-0 defeat at Craven Cottage with reports sharing that the club were swept with a sickness bug ahead of the game in West London (David Ornstein, 11 December).
Not to make any excuses on the players’ behalf, but it was clear something was not right against Fulham as players who are usually putting 100% in really did not perform as they wanted at Craven Cottage.
The Irons had been in great form, most recently defeating Tottenham 2-1, with this showing against the Cottagers very much a rare occasion.
There is the expectation that those hit with the bug will be fit in time for Thursday, with Moyes reportedly giving his players two days off despite Sunday’s trouncing.
However, Moyes and his men will certainly be looking for redemption against Freiburg on Thursday but will be without Antonio for the game though the Jamaican international hasn’t been missed as much with Jarrod Bowen thriving in his newly found striker role.
Areola though has proven a bigger miss with Fabianski struggling against Fulham and Moyes will be hoping his number one is ready in time for Thursday.
In other West Ham news, the Irons could potentially bring in a new manager prior to their EFL Cup tie at Anfield.
