Rangers appear to have a busy window in January, especially in light of the recent reports that Danilo may miss up to four months of action.

After injuring his medial ligaments, the attacker is running out of time to recover and play again this season, according to The Scottish Sun [12 December].

If a goal-oriented player wasn’t previously on Philippe Clement’s January transfer wish list, they very likely will be now.

As fate would have it, a former Gers goal scorer became officially free again on the same day that word spread about Danilo’s probable protracted layoff.

Santos has exercised the release provision in the contract that Alfredo Morelos only recently signed, as reported by Glasgow Times [13 December].

Last week, Santos experienced relegation for the first time in their more than a century of existence, and Morelos is currently without a club.

This is in the midst of recent rumors that, only six months after leaving Ibrox, Morelos might be on the Rangers’ radar.

It would be simple to brush those proposals aside, and if given the option, it is reasonable to assume the Gers would prefer not to take that route again.

With the players at his disposal, Philippe Clement is producing excellent results and cultivating a positive team dynamic.

All things considered, Morelos needs to find a team, and Rangers will need another striker for the second half of the season.

It would be a convenience marriage in every way, and it would only be a short-term fix for the situation that the Rangers and Morelos are in.

In the end, Rangers would have a striker who is prepared to play on January 1st and has a proven track record at this level.

For his part, Morelos would spend the next six months returning to familiar settings before finding a new residence for the summer.

It is almost too clear-cut of a connection to draw, but maybe this is a transfer that works for everyone.
