Crystal Palace are reportedly offering a club-record £30 million for Mathias Soule but Juventus are unlikely to let their Frosinone loanee leave Serie A for the Premier League during the January transfer window.

That is according to Giovanni Manna, Juventus’ sporting director.

Speaking to Tuttosport, amid claims that Crystal Palace are offering £30 million for Mathias Soule ahead of the winter window, Manna insists that Juve currently have no plans to let the Argentine go.

Farmed out on loan over the summer, Soule’s Frosinone story – Manna says – still has a fair few chapters remaining.

“I believe that when a footballer starts a journey in a place, he must end it there,” the director explains. “Especially if it is an important journey like that of Soula.

“We don’t want to interrupt the good (he is) doing.”

Soule has been one of the breakout stars of the current Serie A campaign. The twinkle-toed winger has six goals in 13 starts for Frosinone, a player who idolises Lionel Messi cutting inside onto his left foot from the right wing like the Ballon D’Or winner.

Or, if you like, Michael Olise.

Reports from Corriere dello Sport, claiming that Crystal Palace are willing to make Soule their most expensive ever player, will raise questions about how he and Olise can be fitted into the same system, though there is a belief that Soule can thrive – a la Ebere Eze – in a more central role too.

Mathias Soule has ‘so much quality’
“He can (play as) the right winger in a 4-3-3. But he could also play as a midfielder,” Frosinone sporting director, Guido Angelozzi, tells Tuttomercatoweb. “He has so much quality.

“Having had (Domenico) Berardi at Sassuolo, he reminds me of him. If he finds consistency with scoring goals, he will become a stratospheric player.”

Newcastle have also held talks with the Juventus chiefs about Soule. They, like Palace, will have to wait until his Frosinone stint comes to an end before attempting to strike a deal.
