West Ham could be given their chance at signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié, with his lack of playing time potentially opening the door to him.
Fussball Transfers cover the player today and how reports elsewhere are claiming that AC Milan and Roma are putting out feelers for the defender.
They, though, according to FT, are not the only sides interested in the player and West Ham are still ‘closely following’ the Ecuadorian internationals development.
That’s because the door to a transfer may be opening as he has fallen down the pecking order at Leverkusen this season, only featuring in the starting XI in the Bundesliga twice so far.
That’s interesting to his suitors, with the player clearly not a part of Xabi Alonso’s plans and thus potentially someone they could now grab after the German side blocked efforts in the past.
West Ham are among those who are keen on him, with it reported in August that they were interested, and director of football Tim Steidten was a ‘big fan’ of the player.
They were then thrown into the transfer mix in October when the player’s agent revealed Liverpool had been after the defender before changing their plans in the summer and abandoning the move.
FT continue to insist they’re in the mix and with Hincapié struggling for playing time, perhaps now is the time to strike. Even if it isn’t, he’s a name to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
