After a successful operation, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson announced that goalie Rob Lainton will miss an additional four months of action.
For the entire season thus far, Wrexham has been without the stopper.
Lainton, 34, missed time due to a knee issue.
According to a report by The Leader, Parkinson provided an update on his condition and stated, “Rob had an operation and it was very successful.” For Rob, it’s been a very frustrating period. He has seen three specialists, but even though he will be out for four months, we are hoping that this will resolve the issue.
Wrexham harm most recent
Although Lainton finds his absence irritating, Mark Howard, Luke McNicholas, and Arthur Okonkwo—who is also sidelined right now—are other options for Wrexham in his position.
Since 2018, he has been registered at Racecourse Ground. To date, the Welsh team has seen 145 appearances from the “keeper.”
Despite Lainton’s unfortunate recent injury luck, the Red Dragons have shown remarkable loyalty to him.
He initially signed a loan agreement with Wrexham from Port Vale, and a short time later, his move became permanent. As Parkinson’s men were promoted back to the Football League, he participated in nine games during the previous season, six of them were in the National League.
Although the Manchester native never played as a senior for the Trotters, he began his career at Bolton Wanderers. After that, he had stints at Cheltenham Town, Burton Albion, and Bury.
With a game remaining against the Hatters above them, Parkinson’s side is now second in the League Two standings, behind Stockport County.
This Saturday, Wrexham will play their first game back at home against Colchester United. After the postponement of their last away match against Forest Green Rovers, they will be eager to play again.
