In his pre-match interview ahead of this weekend’s clash against Colchester United, Phil Parkinson provided an injury update for both Arthur Okonkwo and Rob Lainton.

Okonkwo joined the Red Dragons on loan on deadline day and kept six clean sheets in eleven appearances.

The 22-year-old stopper injured his jaw in our 2-2 draw against Harrogate Town, and Parkinson explained he hopes that our number 33 will return soon.

He said: “Arthur is at Arsenal today and he has gone to hopefully get the all-clear to get back and join up with us.

“We’re eager to have him in and around the building and get him back on the training pitch. He’s Arsenal’s player and under their care, but equally, if he gets the thumbs up then we’ll get him back involved.”

Lainton has also suffered an unfortunate spell on sidelines through injury, and Parkinson confirmed that he has had a successful operation earlier this week.

He said: “Rob Lainton had an operation on his knee this week and it was a real shame for him because it was an injury he picked up in pre-season.

“It has taken us a while with several specialists to find out the root cause of his problem because it was quite an unusual injury that he’s got.

“It will rule Rob out for probably the remainder of the season, so on the one hand we’re disappointed but we’re all relieved for him that we have found what the problem was.”
