In preparation for today’s match against Coventry City, Daniel Farke might be tempted to alter his Leeds United lineup. Leeds’ performance in their Tuesday night loss to Sunderland was sluggish, so it could make sense to give it a boost before a busy Christmas schedule.

Leeds needs to get back to winning ways in order to stay in touch with the top two, as both Ipswich Town and Leicester City won during the midweek.

Farke is still unable to welcome back any of Sam Byram, Junior Firpo, Jamie Shackleton, or Stuart Dallas, but he has no fresh injury concerns from the trip to the Stadium of Light.

In light of that, this is our expected Leeds starting lineup for the match.

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier maintained his record of starting in every Championship game this season with a “world class” save in midweek.

Defence

Farke is unlikely to make many changes to his back four with neither Firpo nor Byram back, and full-back choices appear to be quite limited.

Archie Gray starts at right back as Luke Ayling hasn’t played a minute in any of the previous six games and is unlikely to be brought back in.

Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon will continue to play center back together, forcing Djed Spence to step in once more.

Midfield

Leeds appeared the weakest in midfield against Sunderland, which may have something to do with the fact that Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu have started the last eight games together.

Since Ampadu appears to be unstoppable in Farke’s mind, Kamara ought to get the day off tomorrow, giving Ilia Gruev his first start of the season.

Attack

Although Leeds’ assault has been on fire in recent months, they were unable to connect on Tuesday night for the first time in a long time.

With the other four players remaining same, Willy Gnonto could start ahead of Dan James after making an impact off the bench at the Stadium of Light.
