George Evans received a red card on Saturday and will likely miss the rest of the season with Wrexham. Evans is facing a three-game ban.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 29-year-old was shown a yellow card 20 minutes into his team’s League Two match against Colchester on Saturday and was then shown a straight red card just six minutes later. Evans, who joined from Millwall in the summer transfer window, could be out for three matches because of the sending off.

PHIL PARKINSON’S QUOTES
After the game, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed his dissatisfaction with the referee’s decision to send George off, saying, “I didn’t think George should have gone in for that challenge in the first one.” He’s shut the boy down. I can’t tell if there was contact in the second one because I’ve only seen it from one perspective. It is disappointing if there was contact, but the less said about the referee, the better. This is George’s first career send-off, and he has been fantastic for us.”

Wrexham defeated Colchester three points in spite of the loss of Evans, who hasn’t missed a League Two game since joining the team. Before the visiting team scored a late goal to tie the game, Elliot Lee and Zach Mitchell gave the home team a two-goal lead.

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
Wrexham’s schedule for 2023 includes League Two games against Newport, Swindon, and Walsall. On January 1, 2024, the team will host Barrow at home. The Welsh team has a game in hand on the league leaders despite being six points behind Stockport in the standings.
