Tennessee Titans star running back Derrick Henry has been one of the league’s top runners throughout his career.
This season, he has been in several rumors stating that he will not remain with the team after this season as he will be a free agent in 2024. He was one of the biggest names brought up during the trade deadline in October, but no teams could offer a good enough deal to bring him over. However, Henry seemed to drop a big hint as to what his intentions will be after the 2023 season concludes.
“I’ve been here my whole career. I definitely want to go out strong, which isn’t the case. Just trying to give it my all these last three games and leave it all on the field.”
Future With Tennessee Titans

Henry was asked about what he thinks his future will be in the NFL after this season, and he had this to say:
I’ve been here my whole career. I definitely want to go out strong, which isn’t the case. Just trying to give it my all these last three games and leave it all on the field.
While he does not give an official answer as to whether he will remain a Titan or not next season, this quote certainly sounds like he is expecting to sign with a new organization in 2024. Henry has been Tennessee’s best player since joining the league in 2016. He has been with the Titans for his entire eight-year career and has been consistently great every season.

He has had four seasons with over 1,000 yards rushing and even had a season with over 2,000 rushing yards back in 2020. Henry has also amounted to 1,447 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns, along with 25 passing yards and three passing touchdowns, which is a high number for all running backs.

Henry was in recent trade talks with the Baltimore Ravens during the peak of the NFL trade deadline this season, and a deal was reportedly finalized for him to leave Tennessee. Unfortunately for the Ravens, the Titans’ ownership and management changed their minds at the last minute, and the deal was revoked. Even though the Titans did not end up trading him, it showed that they have an interest in dealing him away in the near future.
Tennessee is 5-9 and in last place in the AFC South division. They were just eliminated from playoff contention this past week after their heartbreaking overtime loss to the Houston Texans, which could be even more reason for Henry to seek other opportunities in the offseason. Will the star running back be on a different team in 2024, or will he remain with the Titans for another year?
