Three options have been found to address Wrexham’s selection dilemma caused by George Evans’ red card.
Consequently, what happened?
With co-owner Ryan Reynolds spectating from the stands, the Red Dragons were down to 10 men in their most recent League Two match against Colchester United after Evans was sent off for a careless first-half challenge. The 29-year-old will now have to serve a three-match suspension and miss games against Newport County, Swindon Town, and Walsall.
THE LARGER IMAGE
After Evans was sent off, Phil Parkinson moved Andy Cannon to a holding midfield position so that Tom O’Connor could play defense. In addition, Luke Young, the club captain, who has recently seen little playing action, might assist in providing cover for Barrow ahead of their meeting on New Year’s Day.
PARKINSON’S MENTION
Regarding the selection challenge he faces, Parkinson stated: “George didn’t get straight into the team when he came in.” He needed to bide his time. We have a number of choices since we have other players, like Luke Young and Tom O’Connor, who can also play in the center. While I am truly sad for George, this also presents a chance for someone else to take the lead. Players that are willing to take a chance are among us.
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
More fans will be admitted through the turnstiles at SToK Racecourse for Wrexham’s derby match against Welsh rivals Newport, as a new temporary stand is set to open for business. Whoever is chosen will aim for success as the Red Dragons try to secure a spot among the League Two automatic promotion spots.
