Although Leeds United has lost its last two Championship games, this season has started much better at Elland Road than the previous one.

Although Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa’s regimes are long gone, Daniel Farke has cultivated a newfound optimism in this region of Yorkshire.

Leeds is now third in the standings, and not many would wager on them making a quick return to the Premier League.

It wouldn’t hurt to make any moves in the January transfer window either, since they have an intriguing winger in line to support their promotion campaign.

News about Leeds United transfers: Attacking newcomers on the way
The news of Wilfried Gnonto’s probable departure from Leeds may very well dominate the January transfer window. That was a story that took up the summer window as well, and if he does decide to step down at some point, the window will need a winger.

Kerem Akturkoglu may have the key to a solution. Indeed, Aksam seems to indicate that Leeds and Lazio are interested in signing the midfielder, according to sources from Turkey.

The 25-year-old winger is reportedly requesting €14 million (£13 million) for his services. Although unlikely, that would be an expensive addition for a team playing in the English second division.

How Raphinha and Akturkoglu are comparable
For the young Turk, such a transfer would be thrilling. For Galatasaray, all you have to do is look at the attacker’s statistics this season to see why.

The 26-cap Turkey international has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, tallying seven goals and eight assists.

It’s interesting to note that Akturkoglu scored in both of those matches against Manchester United during the Champions League group stages. Very impressive effort, in fact.

The Galatasaray player, who is a left winger by profession, can also play on the right side of attack and is comparable to Raphinha.

The Brazilian proved to be a great asset for Leeds in the Premier League prior to his huge £55 million transfer to Barcelona in 2022. The winger was a creative and goal-scoring asset when he was a member of Leeds, and he may still be if he moves to Elland Road.
