Prior to Friday’s Premier League matchup against Sheffield United, midfielder Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa appears to have leaked some team information, revealing that teammate Pau Torres is out. Pau was hoped to be cleared for play after limping off late in the 2-1 victory against Brentford, but it appears that’s no longer the case. Pau was previously merely an injury doubt.
In a pretty strange way, Luiz acknowledged that Pau wouldn’t be making an appearance on Friday when a fan inquired about the defender’s health during a Twitch live. “Pau has a wound. Luiz stated, “He’s not ready for Friday,” which caused both Fantasy Premier League players and Villa supporters to have a small meltdown.
If Luiz is correct, Pau will be greatly missed as he hasn’t missed a single league game this season and has played for all but 31 minutes on the pitch. Ezri Konsa going from right-back to center-back and Matty Cash moving from the right flank to the full-back position would probably have an effect on the team selection.
Meanwhile, if Unai Emery would rather have a left-footed player replace him on a like-for-like basis, there is also Clement Lenglet. Click this link to view Birmingham World’s projected starting lineup, which excludes Pau, in case you missed it.
