Timo Werner is someone that Aston Villa has identified as a possible target in the January transfer window as they look to expand their attacking options.
Unai Emery wants to bring the 27-year-old striker back to the Premier League, according to a report from Fichajes.
Werner’s time at Chelsea was lackluster, as he was inconsistent in his goal scoring. He did, however, win the UEFA Champions League with the Blues, so it’s unclear if he would find it appealing to play in the Premier League again.
The 27-year-old appears to have found his form again after moving back to Germany. In all competitions, he scored 16 goals for the RB Leipzig campaign. He hasn’t exactly been on fire this season, though. In fourteen appearances in all competitions, the Germany international has netted two goals.
Ollie Watkins will probably start ahead of Werner at Aston Villa because the Midlands club already has a superior striker at their disposal. He might, nevertheless, make a strong substitute for the England international. He will give the Aston Villa attack additional quality and depth. He can also play as a wide forward.
Villa’s strong start to the season has placed them in the thick of the title chase, and they will be aiming to maintain it in the upcoming months. To contend with teams like Manchester City and Arsenal, they must add more talent to their roster. They will undoubtedly advance if they sign a versatile attacker like Werner.
