We are excited to have Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey join us as our exclusive columnist. Every week, he will provide his thoughts on the club’s most talked-about topics.

Ty Bracey predicts that Clement Lenglet will start for Aston Villa in his Premier League debut on Friday, December 22, against Sheffield United. The French international, who joined Villa on loan in the summer and has been linked to an early return to Barcelona, has only made five league appearances for Villa, all of which have been in the Europa Conference League.

However, with Unai Emery’s confirmation that Spanish center-back Pau Torres will miss the match against the Blades, the 28-year-old may be expected to take his spot at the center of the defense at Villa Park.

Bracey thinks Lenglet will be able to demonstrate his abilities in the match against the South Yorkshire club, which is a chance for him to acquire more playing time for the Villans this season.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey responded, “No,” when asked if he believed the defender will return to Barcelona in January. He’s going to get his first start tonight, in my opinion. Since Pau is out due to injury, I believe he will make his Premier League debut.

“I can understand why he might have wanted to stay a few more minutes. You wish to play since you’re heading out on loan.

“You don’t want to be a bench warmer because then what would be the purpose of taking a loan? You won’t get minutes at Villa if you’re not getting them at Barcelona.

“I believe this is his chance to demonstrate his abilities. Tonight at Villa Park, you have the ideal matchup to make your Villa Premier League debut.
