Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has disclosed that before to the Clarets’ successful promotion campaign the previous year, he had a conversation with Steve Cooper, the former manager of Nottingham Forest.

Kompany moved from Belgian team Anderlecht to Turf Moor during the summer of last year. The Lancashire team earned promotion with an incredible 101 points, and they went on to have a great Championship season.

Additionally, the former defender for Manchester City has disclosed how a conversation with Cooper—who joined Forest in 2022—benefited Kompany prior to Burnley’s historic 2022–2023 campaign. In addition, he expressed his condolences to the Welshman following his dismissal on Tuesday.

It’s not the point that somebody can stay in a job for life, I suppose, but I’m always a member of the manager’s union. In this instance, I won’t be making any distinctions,” he declared, according to Burnley Express.

“I think that shared responsibility, consistency, and laying out a vision are important.” However, I am confident that he will find employment soon due to his superior managerial skills, while someone else may lack the consistency.

“I spoke with him the year before we were promoted, and I’ve seen the work he’s done in the Championship.

“I was asked if Pep [Guardiola] was among the persons I spoke with. He was one of the managers I spoke with before to beginning work at the Championship, as I previously mentioned when I called the individuals who had held the role before. I appreciate his counsel very much and wish him success in his future endeavors. I’m confident he’ll land the ideal position once more.
