According to reports, Tosin Adarabioyo is expected to depart Fulham, which might help Tottenham Hotspur in their quest for new defenders.
Adarabioyo’s time at Craven Cottage is approaching its last six months. He doesn’t appear to be signing a new contract as of yet.
Naturally, recent reports have indicated that Tottenham is interested in signing the former Man City player.
And it has now been claimed that Adarabioyo will in fact wind down his contract, which may be a major boost for Spurs’ aspirations of acquiring the defender.
Tosin Adarabioyo to see out Fulham contract amid Tottenham links
Adarabioyo will now finish out his existing contract with the Cottagers rather than signing a new one, according to The Sun.
According to reports, Fulham still anticipated that the “exceptional” Adarabioyo would remain at the club in January, even if it is now acknowledged he will go on.
The news of Adarabioyo’s departure from the Cottage will come as welcome news to Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham.
It remains to be seen if they want to beat the rush to sign him by making a cheap move for him in January.
But Spurs, who are seeking defense reinforcements following Micky van de Ven’s injury, appear to have an open run at this.
One to keep an eye on in January
During a transfer window, it is always worthwhile to keep an eye on any player whose contract is about to expire.
There will be a lot of cat and mouse between players and teams, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Spurs or another team tried to lure Fulham into taking advantage of this.
Marco Silva seemed content with his partner right now. There is no rush to let Adarabioyo leave just yet because he was instrumental in leading the Cottagers to the cup final in midweek.
But as January goes on, this one might well cross the finish line if Tottenham comes calling and Adarabioyo wants to transfer too.
In any case, it appears that Adarabioyo is leaving Fulham.
