Paul Merson believes Bournemouth will cause Nuno Espirito Santo to lose in his first game in charge of Nottingham Forest.

Following the departure of Welshman Steve Cooper on Tuesday, the former manager of Tottenham and Wolves has taken over at the City Ground. Nuno will be looking to stop Forest’s downward trend, as the Reds have only triumphed in one of their previous 13 games.

They take on a strong Bournemouth team, who have won five straight games after suffering a setback to Manchester City on November 4. Merson also thinks Andoni Iraola’s club will win 2-1 on Saturday and that he “can’t believe” Forest’s decision to fire Cooper.

“I can’t believe what Nottingham Forest have gone and done with the Steve Cooper situation,” he stated to SportsKeeda. “I simply don’t see why they decided to terminate him. These owners and the upper management occasionally merely think that their team belongs in the top half of the standings. No, it isn’t the case in reality. This league is really challenging.

“Observe the additional dugout. Since the beginning of the season, Bournemouth manager Androni Iraola has had support, and the team’s current performance demonstrates just how much of it helps. Since Bournemouth has won four of their past five games and should have too much for this Forest team, I’m going to go with a Bournemouth victory in this one. Dominic Solanke has been in great form and if he continues banging in goals for fun, some of the ‘bigger’ teams might start taking an interest.”
