On boxing day, Aston Villa travels to Manchester United in an attempt to resume their winning ways. Allow us to examine and see whether Unai Emery has any injury worries.
Last time out, Aston Villa lost at home for the first time since February, so it was a day to forget. Even though there were several missed penalty calls and a goal that was called back, Villa didn’t generate enough opportunities during the game.
Late in the game, Cameron Archer bit his old team again to give Sheffield United the lead. His goal cost the Villans since it was ill-defended. Nicolo Zaniolo’s first Premier League goal since joining from Galatasaray salvaged a point.
Due to his fifth yellow card of the year, Matty Cash will not play against Manchester United. This is the only suspension issue facing the Villans heading into their Boxing Day match, aside from Boubacar Kamara.
Now that we have that out of the way, let’s look at any injury concerns Unai Emery may have at Old Trafford.
Injury update for Aston Villa versus Manchester United
It doesn’t seem like the Villans have any new worries to worry about. It won’t be shocking considering how quickly the Blades’ games have changed. Having said that, a few problems had persisted into the match, leaving the Villans devoid of several important players.
Pau Torres, who had participated in every game until this injury, was one of them. Given how little time he has spent with the team, it is fantastic that he has such a large impact on the starting lineup.
Speaking with Birmingham World regarding the injury, Emery revealed more about the Spanish defender’s condition. He said, “It’s a small injury,” to that. His progress depends on how he performs every day; I’m not sure if he’ll be ready for Man United, but he might be. It is evident that the injury may keep him out for some time, but it also may allow him to play against the Red Devils again. With a 6.9 SofaScore versus the Blades, Clement Lenglet performed well.
Youri Tielemans was another player who was left out against Sheffield United; his inventiveness was definitely missed. It seems like he might be sidelined for several months.
“Youri, we are thinking maybe not more than two weeks, but he is now working alone and recovering from his injury in his calf,” Emery commented in response.
Because Villa only has to deal with those two injuries along with Bertrand Traore’s, they have a robust roster at their disposal.
