We are pleased to welcome Dr. Rajpal Brar, an expert on injuries, as a new exclusive columnist. He will share his opinions on the Rangers’ injury status every week.

Dr Rajpal Brar says Rangers striker Danilo needs surgery to repair his ruptured MCL because more damage has been done to other muscles.

The injury expert claims that it appears to be a full rupture and that the recovery will first be to establish basic mobility and strength.

He is reportedly expected to return to the first team in April after missing the next four months of football, according to reports.

Physical therapist and sports scientist Brar spoke exclusively with Ibrox News about his circumstances. He said:

It sounds as though the medial collateral ligament (MCL) had completely ruptured.

“The necessity for surgery to repair future injury in other muscles, such as meniscus tears or tibial plateau fractures, may also be indicated by the procedure itself.

“Sport-specific activities will be integrated into the recovery process, with a primary focus on reestablishing baseline mobility and strength, followed by their progression and neuromuscular coordination.”

Since things haven’t worked out the way Philippe Clement would have preferred, Rangers may use the January transfer window to sign a Danilo replacement.

He lacks a consistent number nine halfway through the season, and although Abdallah Sima is capable of filling that role, he prefers to play off the left. It has been suggested that Lawrence Shankland be brought in while Danilo continues his recuperation. Cyriel Dessers isn’t as high in the pecking order as many would have predicted when he moved to the club because he didn’t get off to a quick start.
