We are pleased to have Dr. Daniel Plumley, an authority on football finance, as an exclusive columnist. He will provide his opinions on the most talked-about topics at Rangers once a week.
Dan Plumley has maintained that January preparations have already taken on a “completely different spin” as a result of Philippe Clement’s performance at Rangers since his arrival.
The Bears won the Viaplay Cup in the previous several weeks and shut out Celtic after defeating Real Betis in the Europa League to top their group and then thrashing Aberdeen at Hampden Park.
The Rangers board is considerably more inclined to support Clement financially during the transfer window next month, the finance expert said, given his early success.
“On the pitch, it was a really good week,” he revealed exclusively to Ibrox News.
Even the Europa League spot there puts a whole other perspective on January because it’s those kinds of things that may then spark the action in that month.
“That might make a difference; it might be those small windows of opportunity when the strategies he wants to implement have a higher chance of succeeding, or you could adjust those strategies slightly in comparison to the situation they might have found themselves in had it been a Europa Conference League knockout.
“As always, it goes hand in hand. If you can maintain that momentum and carry it into the New Year, clubs are more likely to support the manager and the plans. As January approaches, I believe you’ll see more of that at Rangers.”
