For the Titans’ game in Houston on Sunday, they hope to have rookie quarterback Will Levis back in the saddle.
Levis has made progress in his recuperation from an ankle injury, according to coach Mike Vrabel, who stated on Tuesday that the club might practice on Wednesday as they get ready for their rematch with the Texans.
Regarding Levis, Vrabel stated, “I think he’ll try and practice tomorrow, probably in a limited basis.” But in my opinion, he has improved and grown better. He has been putting forth a lot of effort to become well-liked once more.”
After sustaining an ankle injury in the team’s December 17 game at Nissan Stadium against the Texans, Levis was one of the team’s inactives on Sunday against the Seahawks.
Veteran Ryan Tannehill started agianst the Seahawks, and Malik Willis served as the team’s back-up.
Levis didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday of last week, and he was listed as limited on Friday’s Injury Report and listed as questionable for the game. Vrabel said “it wasn’t very close” when asked about Levis and the decision on his playing status vs Seattle, when he was listed among the team’s inactives.
Levis has started eight games this season for the Titans, and he’s thrown for 1,792 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions.
Vrabel said he thinks it’s important to get Levis even more experience this season. After this Sunday’s game in Houston, the Titans face the Jaguars in the season finale at Nissan Stadium on either January 6 or January 7.
“I think those are invaluable reps,” Vrabel said of Levis getting more experience if he’s able to return. “I would anticipate a great road environment (in Houston), playing on the road in a loud environment and being able to handle the operarion and work the offense, I think that’s something that is always critical. I want everyone that could play to possibly play.”
