Prior to the January transfer window, PSG is apparently interested in Leeds United center-back Pascal Struijk. However, the Championship team is hoping to get the player to accept a lower offer.
Although Daniel Farke’s team is now eight points outside of the automatic spots, it is anticipated that funding will be made available in January to bolster his roster, with a particular emphasis on keeping all of the club’s important players. Among them is captain Struijk, who this season has compelled former leader Liam Cooper to take a backseat.
The left-sided center defender has contributed five goals this season and has been a model of consistency thus far.
It’s a far cry from his Premier League days, when he was mainly used—and not in the greatest position—as a left-back. Furthermore, it seems that the French powerhouse PSG is eager to sign him in January, as reported by the Dutch publication Voetbal International.
Following Leeds’ Premier League relegation, Struijk was also a target for several clubs during the summer. Angus Kinnear confirmed that the team rejected bids in the “low teens” for the defender.
Leeds has a good chance of keeping Struijk
The Dutchman, who has three and a half years remaining on his contract, puts the club in a solid position despite his present contract issue. Because of this, Leeds may demand a premium price for one of Farke’s most important players, and even the multibillionaire PSG, which is owned by QSI, is reportedly having trouble signing him.
In fact, L’Equipe notes that PSG decided to work with Lucas Beraldo instead of Struijk before the January transfer window opened.
But Luis Enriquez’s team is still very much in the running for the Leeds star, so their interest in him isn’t entirely gone. Leeds will return to action on Friday night when they play West Brom, another team vying for promotion.
