After a depressing 2-1 loss to Preston North End on Boxing Day, Leeds United will be hoping to recover tonight.
Leeds United’s next tough Championship test will come against West Brom, a team in the top six. The Whites, who are currently fourth in the table, will play the Baggies, who are six points behind them but just one spot below them.

The visiting Leeds United team has won four of the last six meetings between the two teams, with two games ending in a draw. In these contests dating back to 2019, Leeds scored fifteen goals while West Brom managed just three.

If the Whites win, they could close the distance with Ipswich Town, who are currently in second place. With a victory, West Brom’s lead over Leeds would shrink to just three points.

team news for Leeds United
Daniel Farke provided the most recent information on his team prior to Friday’s match (as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post).

There are three confirmed absences for Leeds United. Due to injuries, Jamie Shackleton and Luke Ayling are absent, and Illan Meslier, who was sent off against Preston North End, is starting his first of three games away from the field.

Naturally, Stuart Dallas, who has been out with a long-term injury, is still recovering from his horrific leg injury. Fortunately, Farke stated that Sam Byram is “fully available” to play against West Brom.

Predicted XI

Darlow

Gray

Rodon

Struijk

Spence

Ampadu

Kamara

Summerville

Piroe

Gnonto

Rutter

Farke has shown a reluctance to change his starting XI over recent games, so expect a largely unchanged side to start the game at The Hawthorns.

The attacking prowess that Leeds United has in their frontline is such that it largely picks itself. In that respect it is likely to be unchanged although Farke’s previous comments about rotation might see Dan James swapped out for Willy Gnonto to start.

Other than that, it likely going to be the same team that has performed reliably for Farke throughout the campaign.
