Following a knock against Rangers, Celtic defender Stephen Welsh has given an update on his condition, according to Brendan Rodgers.
The goals of Kyogo Furuhashi and Paulo Bernardo helped the Scottish champions defeat their Glasgow rivals 2-1.
Welsh’s injury in the first half, when he appeared to strain his shoulder after coming down, was one of the game’s unpleasant aspects.
Additionally, Rodgers stated that the defense will be evaluated as soon as feasible.
He said, “He has been so unfortunate,” to Sky Sports. We’ll see how things work out in the coming days as he keeps getting knocked around and gets hurt—his shoulder popped out.
“Maik Nawrocki hasn’t played a lot, but I’m happy for him because he’s returned after taking a few hits and getting hurt, and I want him to play and contribute.”
“I was genuinely happy for him. With a nose injury, Matt O’Riley persevered, and in the final ten minutes, Greg Taylor suffered an arm injury.
“They showed a great spirit and mentality to see the game through.”
Rodgers was also keen to highlight Parkhead captain Callum McGregor. The Scotland international put on a dominant showing and the Celtic boss feels the midfielder is on a “different level”.
He added: “Callum is a on a different level. I worked with him here the first time and we are very lucky to have someone like him on a different level.
“His view of the game and his composure… he has ended up having to play nearly enough two positions at times.
“He was in that controlling position as he can progress the game forward and then he is up there as an eight due to the runs he can make in that position.”
