Even though Gers forward Sima was offside, the Ibrox club requests a recording of the SFA’s proceedings regarding the penalty claim involving Celtic defender Alistair Johnston.

Rangers have asked the Scottish Football Association to release the audio from the VAR penalty incident during the team’s 2-1 loss to Celtic.

Celtic center back In the first half of the thrilling Premiership match at Parkhead, Alistair Johnston seemed to handle the ball within his own area while under pressure from Gers attacker Abdallah Sima.

Referee Nick Walsh gave a goal-kick, and VAR official Willie Collum’s check for handball was ineffective. However, later on, while the game was being televised live on Sky Sports, it was revealed that there had been an offside in the build-up.

Following the game, Gers manager Philippe Clement stated, “There was no communication towards me.” Furthermore, even if I’m not a referee, if Sima is offside, the VAR ought to have given a clear signal for offside.”

According to a Rangers representative, “the club has requested that the Scottish FA provide the VAR audio so that it can comprehend why Celtic’s Alistair Johnston was not given a penalty despite clearly handballing the ball.

The decision was not shared with our team or made public at the time, so the club is eager to learn the reasoning behind it.

“We also recognize that Sky, the league’s official broadcaster, is incredibly dissatisfied and perplexed by the circumstances.

“Unaware of any offside check, their panel agreed at halftime that Rangers should have been given a penalty. Once more, this was only mentioned in the second part. Rangers remains advocates of VAR, but there must be significantly more transparency for it to be successful in Scotland.”
