To increase the team’s chances of winning a second straight promotion, Phil Parkinson wants to add fresh players to Wrexham in January.
Consequently, what happened?
According to Darren Witcoop of the Mirror, the Red Dragons have added Sheffield Wednesday striker Lee Gregory and forward Jonson Clarke-Harris from Peterborough to their wishlist for the winter transfer window. Although the team hasn’t had a problem scoring goals in their League Two campaign thus far, Ollie Palmer’s advancing years and Paul Mullin’s fitness have probably forced them to search the market for alternatives.
THE LARGER IMAGE
The League Two team, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is level on points with second-place Mansfield Town after an excellent season. With three goals more than league leaders Stockport County and Notts County combined, they are among the favorites to be promoted to the English football league’s third division.
WERE YOU AWARENESS?
With 111 points in 46 games during the previous season, the Red Dragons broke the National League record for the most points by a club in a single season. It was the first direct promotion to the EFL they had received since 2008.
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
Paul Mullin’s goal was the only one scored by the Red Dragons as they fell 3-1 to Walsall, ending their season on a lower note than they had started it. Fortunately, they haven’t fallen significantly behind their rivals as Mansfield and Stockport were also unable to win that evening.
