Arsenal has been informed that if they give a Premier League competitor two players in exchange, they may be able to sign someone in January.

Former Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has proposed two players that the Gunners can sell to Aston Villa and is adamant that Mikel Arteta can sign Douglas Luiz during the January transfer window. Luiz has been linked to Arsenal for a while after Villa rejected two of their proposals in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian may be chased more closely now that Thomas Partey is out due to a hamstring issue. Partey’s exit has also been speculated about, which might leave Arteta with less choices in the midfield.

Despite their tight budget, Gibbs thinks Arsenal should try to recruit Luiz in January. The North Londoners will be facing financial difficulties. The former left-back has proposed sending Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe in exchange for players.

“Going after someone like Douglas Luiz is probably the best course of action,” he said to ESPN. “You may switch players, and there are definitely bargains to be made there.

There are deals to be done there in this window with Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie [Nketiah].” If I could change anything, I would definitely strengthen the midfield and hope Saka, Martinelli, and Odegaard become more effective in the second half of the season.

Overachieving Villa, who are surprisingly among the favorites to make it into the Champions League next season, owe a lot to Luiz. The Premier League leaders Liverpool are ahead of Unai Emery’s team in second place.

So, halfway through the season, it would require an enormous offer to entice Luiz away from Villa Park. The 25-year-old former star player of Manchester City, for his part, says he is intent on carrying on his strong play for the Midlands team.

“I am very happy to hear the stories, but I am here at Aston Villa,” he said to Sky Sports. This is where my entire attention is focused. I glance at the tales occasionally but not for very long. I see them, but I don’t pay much attention to them or check them frequently. I’m thinking here, at Aston Villa.

Arsenal won’t be busy in the January transfer window, as Arteta intimated over the weekend. With future big-money transactions, the club runs the risk of breaking Financial Fair Play standards due to its recent heavy expenditure.

Following Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Fulham, the Spaniard declared, “[We have to] do what we have done in 19 of the games, with the same players. When questioned about recent additions, he restated, “The same players.”
