Birmingham’s Aston Villa newsLive as midfielder Finn Azaz, who is headed to Middlesbrough, is anticipated to play on Saturday against Unai Emery’s team
Finn Azaz’s move to Middlesbrough is almost complete, thus he will be eligible to play this weekend against Aston Villa.
The midfielder was acquired by Villa from West Brom in 2021, however he has yet to play a game for the team. After a productive stint with The Pilgrims the previous season, where he helped the team win promotion to the Championship, he played the first part of this year on loan at Plymouth Argyle.
With 18 months remaining on his current contract, he is now expected to leave Villa for £2.5 million to join Boro. With a deadline of 12pm on Friday to register, Azaz should be eligible for Michael Carrick’s team against the team he is leaving, barring any unforeseen delays.
Carrick stated: “It’s close, I think.” Though there are still a few details to work out, we have high hopes that everything will be finished quickly. He is available to perform on Saturday.
He went on, “When we played them down there, he played well against us.” He’s in excellent health and has had a fantastic season. For his age, he has a good amount of experience playing in various leagues and situations.
“He grew up quickly after moving away from home at a young age. Both the football side and his professional status have a lot to do with it. He’s in a great position to move forward. We can only hope that it is resolved fast.
When Boro lost to Coventry City on New Year’s Day, no fewer than twelve players were absent, meaning that manager Carrick is currently managing with a severely diminished roster. Azaz is ready to play following
