According to The Sun, West Ham and Steven Bergwijn’s advisors have had early discussions about a January transfer to the London Stadium.

On January 6, the tabloid revealed on its website that the Dutchman is itching to return to the Premier League, even if a deal is still a long way off and many things need to fall into place.

Ajax is unlikely to approve a loan deal for their club captain, and it is also stated that the success of any deal will largely rest on the Hammers’ ability to raise money through player sales.

For the Hammers, a January transfer for Bergwijn makes perfect sense. He should be at the top of their list of alternatives if they can obtain the necessary funds, and he would be a wonderful fit at the London Stadium.

Although his time at Tottenham wasn’t particularly memorable, he is undoubtedly a player there and has begun to return to his best in the Eredivisie. Despite the team’s terrible performance, he has shown what he can accomplish with seven goals and two assists in 13 games this season.

When he returns from the African Cup of Nations, the Dutchman might not be able to duplicate what Mohammed Kudus accomplished and will accomplish while wearing a West Ham shirt, but he is a reliable choice to fill the hole and offer plenty of strength in depth.

In addition to his skill, Bergwijn can play any position in the front three, which makes him a perfect fit for David Moyes’s versatile trio of Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, and Kudus.
