After recalling the winger from his time at K.V. Kortrijk, Nottingham Forest must now decide what to do with him moving forward.
According to Darren Witcoop, Nottingham Forest may loan Alex Mighten to a Football League team this month.
Mighten, 21, played 12 appearances in the first half of this season after receiving permission to go to Belgium during the previous summer transfer window.
In order to further X’s development, Sunday Mirror writer Witcoop now says that Forest “expects” to move him to a team in England for the balance of this season.
Nottingham Forest could sanction EFL loan deal
Because Nottingham Forest has so many options available to them at his position, Mighten’s chances of making the starting XI in the Premier League are minimal.
Furthermore, it’s unclear if he is a part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s long-term goals for the City Ground now that he replaced Steve Cooper.
Thus, it would be in everyone’s best interests to have another loan exit this winter to an EFL team. At his age, Mighten ought to be participating in regular senior football.
The man was born in the USA, and his contract is good until 2025, so Forest may still have him in the future. He has limited time, therefore he must demonstrate his value.
Mighten rose up through the academy ranks at Forest and was a regular for them at various youth levels before breaking into their first-team in 2019.
He has made 67 appearances for the Reds altogether to date and has chipped in with four goals. The attacker was part of their squad who gained promotion to the top flight in 2022.
Sheffield Wednesday had him on loan in League One last term and another exit could be on the horizon for him now.
