The kit manufacturer deal between Aston Villa and Adidas is worth three times more than their previous deal with Castore, sources have told Football Insider.

As reported by The Telegraph, Villa have dropped their partnership with Castore in favour of a long-term deal with German manufacturer Adidas.

Villa’s Castore deal was worth £4million per season, but well-placed sources say the Adidas deal will triple their sponsorship revenue to over £12million per season.

Football Insider revealed in September that Villa were looking for an exit route in their Castore agreement after being angered by their ‘wet-look design’.

The 2023/24 kit designed by Castore received complaints from Villa’s men’s and women’s teams due to design flaws that were affecting performances.

The Birmingham-based side signed a multi-year agreement with Castore in 2022, but many members of their commercial team felt they had outgrown the value of the deal.

Villa have become the fifth Premier League side to partner with Adidas alongside Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Football Insider revealed in August that Newcastle’s deal with Adidas is worth between £25-£30million per season.

The Tyneside club also decided to drop their partnership with Castore to strike an agreement with Adidas.

Villa’s £30million commercial revenue recorded in 2021/22 is set to receive a major boost as a result of their new Adidas deal.

Unai Emery’s side will continue to wear Castore shirts for the remainder of 2023/24, with Adidas set to release their first kits for the 2024/25 campaign.
