PHIL PARKINSON says there could be departures at The Racecourse this month with clubs showing interest in some of his fringe players.

The January transfer window is open and while new signings remain a possibility, Parkinson will be mindful of EFL rules on squad size when it comes to his dealings this month.

When Parkinson submitted his rota of outfield players in September, there was no place for wing-backs Bryce Hosannah and Callum McFadzean, nor striker Billy Waters, although those three are eligible in January until clubs submit new squad lists when the window closes.

With other players in the squad also out of favour, Parkinson says it is inevitable there could be outgoings.

“There has been some interest in players who have been out of the picture so we are looking at a few of those situations,” said the Reds’ boss.

“There are players who have been on the periphery a little bit who are attracting a bit of interest and we are in discussions with one or two clubs.

“I imagine that some players will be leaving the club, the 22-man squad rule dictates that.”

Parkinson, linked with a number of players, is keeping his cards close to his chest over new additions.

“We are just reviewing where we are with our injured players and seeing when they are coming back but obviously we are looking at options.,” he added.
