Wrexham forward Billy Waters has joined League Two rivals Doncaster Rovers on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club confirmed on Thursday that the English striker has temporarily left the club to sign for Doncaster Rovers on loan until the end of the ongoing season.

WHAT PARKINSON SAID

On Waters’ departure, The Red Dragons manager Phil Parkinson told the club’s official website: “I’d like to wish Billy all the best for his loan move. His first-team opportunities have been restricted here, but it’s a great chance for him to get regular first-team football and I’m sure he’ll be a great loan signing for Doncaster.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 29-year-old joined the Welsh club in March 2023 and appeared in just one National League game for the club last season. In the current campaign, he featured in seven matches across all competitions without scoring a single goal, clocking just 245 minutes on the pitch.

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Wrexham are currently trailing League Two leaders Stockport by two points with a game in hand. They will next be in action on Saturday against AFC Wimbledon at the Racecourse Ground.
