Gordan Greer, the manager of Brighton, has conveyed the Seagulls’ position over Abdallah Sima’s loan with Rangers after seeing the Light Blues forward twice at Ibrox.

The 22-year-old has been playing for the Light Blues in all competitions this season, and many commentators are saying Rangers should extend his contract. He has scored 15 goals and provided two assists in 33 games.

Greer hasn’t talked about the idea of Sima moving permanently, but the route development manager at Brighton has acknowledged that he is pleased with Sima staying in Glasgow after seeing his performances.

He reportedly stated, “I was up there a few weeks ago,” as reported by the Scottish Herald on January 11. He’s a terrific child; I’ve been up to see him twice in the last three weeks. Although it wasn’t easy for him at first, he’s scoring goals and it’s fantastic to see him succeeding. He possesses a number of excellent and powerful qualities.

“It’s evident in the games, particularly at moments where they go a little bit deeper and you watch him blow up into the room. He’s a terrific boy, he’s performed incredibly well, and we are quite pleased with him.

“We’re overjoyed. He was in France with Angers last year, and I kept an eye on him.

He joined Rangers, a team that ought to be kind of winning everything, so it’s fantastic for him that he’s getting the opportunities and netting the goals. Thus, we are quite pleased with his progress.

It’s encouraging to see that Sima is content with his current circumstances at Ibrox, as this should lessen the likelihood that the Senegalese forward will be called up by the Seagulls in the January transfer window.

It appears that Sima will not be returning to the south coast with Robert De Zerbi’s team, who have been dealing with injuries this season and have decided to bring back a number of their loanees to the Amex Stadium.

While a lot of Michael Beale’s summer signings at Ibrox have failed to live up to expectations, Sima has been nothing short of superb in a blue shirt and it is not surprising that so many supporters want to see him signed permanently.

If the 22-year-old is enjoying his time in Glasgow as much as Greer has suggested, there could be a permanent deal to be struck come the summer transfer window, but for now, Rangers will just be hoping Sima returns from the AFCON fit and injury-free.
