With a lot of work being done at the team this month, Philippe Clement has indicated that Rangers are hoping to add numerous new players during the January transfer window.

The Ibrox manager acknowledged that it is challenging to be successful in the winter transfer market without a significant transfer budget, but he is expecting to turn it into a productive window at Ibrox.

Although Fabio Silva is already on loan, no additional players have been added despite the likes of several others, especially in forward and left-back positions.

“Everyone is working hard for that, to find the right players who can add something extra to the squad,” Clement stated, as reported by The Herald on January 14.

“Everyone in the club is working really hard to bring players here, but January is typically a challenging month in that regard. As everyone is expecting and working hard, so am I. I’m not sure how much it would cost because I know from experience that you can never get everything you desire.

“Maybe clubs with unlimited resources could pull that off, but not teams like the Rangers. While we will try our best at this time, summertime makes things considerably simpler.

Expectation

Rangers’ fortunes have improved considerably under Clement in recent months, but this is still a team that struggled early in the season after Michael Beale was fired.

The League Cup victory, Europa League group stage qualification, and the reopening of the title fight have demonstrated that the inclusion of the proper players for the Belgian may make this a very successful campaign.

Silva is not likely to be sufficient to share the load up front with Cyriel Dessers, and reinforcements to the back line would be crucial in the event that Ridvan Yilmaz were to depart.

A long-term solution at left back will not be any closer if the Turk departs, but a striker is clearly needed, and Clement may need to consider midfield given an injury crisis in the midfield earlier in his tenure.

Since a lot of work was left undone during the summer revamp, the new boss will be able to compete more quickly if he can accomplish as much work this month. However, this month will not be easy.

There isn’t much room for error, as demonstrated by Celtic’s 2-1 victory in the most recent contentious derby on December 30. However, there does seem to be a chance to rescue much more from what had seemed to be a

Both the manager and the supporters will be praying for success before the deadline if Rangers are unable to provide Clement what he wants in the winter window.
