Tom Collomosse claims that Coventry City has made Callum O’Hare an offer that would keep him until the summer of 2027.
Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer, two important players who helped the Sky Blues reach the play-off final at the end of the previous season, are just two examples of the quality players they have signed in recent years.
Sadly for Coventry, both players went in the summer of last year, but they brought in a respectable sum for the team, which enabled owner Doug King to fully support Mark Robins in the previous transfer window.
Some of those summer acquisitions notably Haji Wright and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto have been real assets at the Coventry Building Society Arena – and O’Hare certainly felt like a new signing following his return from a long-term injury.
It would have made sense if the former Aston Villa player needed some time to get back into a rhythm after being away of the game for so long.
After being gradually added back to the lineup, he started a few games and scored two goals in a December match against Birmingham City.
In just 15 competitive games this season, he has already scored six goals and provided one assist. He is making headlines after recording a brace against league leaders Leicester City last weekend.
This is an incredible record, and if he hadn’t had a major injury the previous season, he might have been one of the players that left in the summer.
A crucial element in Callum O’Hare’s proposed contract
O’Hare received a contract offer last month, but he hasn’t signed it since he might be considering his options.
His current contract expires this summer, and he would be extending it by three years if he accepted the offer, which is good until 2027.
Though it’s unclear if this agreement has a release clause, it would give Coventry the ability to produce more for him than they can for the duration of this window.

O’Hare and Wright are showing to be influential, and the Sky Blues are still in the running for promotion despite their disappointing start to the season. The CBS Arena is a great place to be, with some great supporters and an excellent manager. If O’Hare stays injury-free, he should think about extending his contract with the Sky Blues. Coventry is in a good position right now, with the Sky Blues in the mix for promotion despite their poor start to the season.
Those are provisions that would be advantageous to both parties if he can agree to a new long-term contract with a reasonable release clause.
