The manager of Wrexham, Phil Parkinson, has provided a patient report on the club’s January activities.
As of right now, Wrexham is ranked second in League Two. The team that was just promoted is among the favorites to be among the top three this season and earn promotions again in a few months.

But there’s still a long way to go, and things can turn around fast. Mansfield trails Barrow by just three points, Crewe Alexandra by five, and Mansfield by just two points.

However, Wrexham has only dropped one of their previous seven league games, and with their current record, it’s difficult to see them failing this season.

Parkinson has acknowledged his side’s lack of business this month and maintains that he would prefer to wait for the best opportunity rather than rush into a purchase. He addressed the Leader, saying:

When Elliot Lee signed a few of summers ago, we attempted to sign him early in the summer, but it didn’t work out.

We had the opportunity to sign other players in that position to eat up the funds we intended to spend on Elliot as the summer stretched on.

“The player signing process is a cutthroat industry.

“Everyone always says they don’t have any money, but when we go sign players, they all say they don’t need any money and they don’t need to sell anybody.”

“I think all the supporters can see the caliber of the squad we are developing. It is hard to wrestle players away, but we have done it really well with the players we have brought into the club in the past.”

A reliable strategy
Considering their team’s rapid ascent in the football hierarchy, supporters really have nothing to worry about. Every transfer window, Wrexham demonstrates a clear understanding of their craft, and their budget allows them to compete with, if not beyond, its surrounding teams.

Parkinson has a ton of experience at this level as well, so even though he didn’t get out of the National League on his first try, things might be different for League Two.

Wrexham’s team is clearly more than capable of winning promotion this year, and the fact that they may be trying to bolster that number indicates that they have no intention of letting up before what will undoubtedly be a difficult and demanding few months for the organization.

Parkinson’s team’s next game is this weekend at home against Newport County.
