Latest Aston Villa transfer news as the first signing of January is nearly confirmed whilst a goalkeeper nears his exit.

Aston Villa are to conclude a deal for Red Star Belgrade defender Kosta Nedeljkovic this week.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, he will travel to England on Friday for a medical. He is expected to remain at Belgrade until the end of the 2023/24 season. A five-year deal will be signed according to Serbian outlet Mozart Sport and that the fee is £7.8m as per Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.

Nedeljkovic is an 18-year-old right-back and has enjoyed a breakout season in Serbia. He featured in four of their group stage matches in the Champions Leagues and his potential arrival is an exciting one. Villa assigned their scouts with a mission to find right-backs and he has been regarded as a player with huge potential.

The 20-time Serbia youth international’s potential arrival comes at a time where Calum Chambers is likely to depart. Unai Emery has made him available for transfer as well as Bertrand Traore who scored a penalty for Burkina Faso in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this week.

In other news, goalkeeper Filip Marschall could be leaving Villa this month. Sun journalist Alan Nixon claimed on his Patreon page, that Marschall could be on his MK Dons. Villa have allowed Marschall to join the League Two outfit on loan until the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old has made one appearance for the first-team this season – playing the entire 90 minutes against Zrinjski Mostar in the UEFA Europa Conference League. He has been an unused substitute for 10 Premier League games and had a place on the bench whilst Robin Olsen was out injured.

Marschall played in all three of Villa’s under-21s games in the EFL Trophy and helped the young Villains win on penalties against Sutton United. If his move to MK Dons is finalised he will be reuniting with Mike Williamson who was his manager at Gateshead.
