Turkish-football reports that Ridvan Yilmaz may make a “controversial” move from Rangers to Galatasaray before to the end of the January transfer window.

The news outlet claims that the Istanbul club is interested in the young left-back and has submitted a loan-to-buy offer in an attempt to close a deal on their website on January 17.

Galatasaray is still intent on signing Yilmaz, despite Philippe Clement’s declaration that Rangers won’t let him go unless a suitable offer is made and a replacement is brought in.

“Yilmaz’s transfer to the Istanbul giants would be controversial as he joined Rangers from rivals Besiktas, but Galatasaray wants a left-back in January,” they said.

Disagreement

It would be intriguing to get Ridvan Yilmaz’s perspective on the matter and whether he is driving the transfer or if he feels compelled to go.

Due to a number of injury concerns, the Turk has had difficulty getting into the game since signing, but in light of Borna Barisic’s injury, he has been playing frequently and effectively lately.

Yilmaz’s desire to move on would make sense if the Croatian has been informed that he will once again be first choice, but that doesn’t seem to be Philippe Clement’s approach.

Galatasaray isn’t wealthy, but they are a solid team with some capital, so if they can provide a £3.4 million buyout option for their loan, they can afford to pay it off right away and sign him long-term.

If not, the Rangers might as well keep him as they stand to lose nothing by letting him go. In the upcoming weeks, keep a close eye on this one.
